The SRMS Cardinals Robotics team competed at the Penn Regional First Lego League tournament this Saturday on the University of Pennsylvania Campus. The Cardinals competed amongst 47 other regional qualifiers from the Southeastern Pennsylvania Region, which had over 200 teams attempt to qualify this season. The teams solution to the Animal Allies themed challenge was to modify wind turbines in order to make them safer for the livelihood of birds and bats. The SRMS Cardinals also competed in other presentations and the robot performance game, all while soaking in the great experience that UPenn and First Lego provide.
Thank you to everyone who participated in our Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. The two-hour “Day On,” organized by a Faith-Based & Neighborhood subcommittee of the district’s Equity and Excellence Consortium included local service organization like Interfaith Housing, the Jewish Relief Agency, Habitat for Humanity and many others. Our elementary, middle and high school offered children the opportunity to clean used toys, sort clothes, collect food, and write letters to the military, while parents had time to learn about many service opportunities in our community.
