UDSD in the News

In the Pennsylvania School Board Association (PSBA) August Bulletin, the School District of Upper Dublin was cited as one of only 47 school districts across the state to be recognized as "academic outperformers." To receive this distinction, districts had to report significantly higher percentages of economically disadvantaged students who scored proficient or advanced on state reading and math tests than other districts with similar levels of student poverty in Pennsylvania during a two-year period. The only other suburban Philadelphia school districts receiving recognition were: Central Bucks, Council Rock, Jenkintown, Lower Merion, Radnor, Tredyffrin-Easttown, Unionville-Chadds Ford, Wallingford-Swarthmore, and West Chester.

On  August 25 2006, the Full Day Kindergarten Program Orientation at the Jarrettown Elementary School was featured by both Channel 6 and Channel 3 as part of their afternoon/evening news.

In Philadelphia Magazine's first statistical ranking of the 100 Best Public and Private Schools, Upper Dublin High School was ranked 8th. The ranking is based primarily on student performance as measured by SAT scores, the number of students taking the SAT, post-secondary education attendance rate, percentage of students earning a designation as "advanced" on the standardized state testing, and other factors including educational cost. According to the listing, Upper Dublin is also one of only 11 schools listed as "over-achieving" (districts that achieved better results for educational housing dollars spent). The "Top Ten" in the eight-county area in and around Philadelphia and New Jersey according to the article include:

o Masterman (Philadelphia)
o Lower Merion (Montgomery)
o Harriton (Montgomery)
o Radnor (Delaware)
o Conestoga (Chester)
o Lower Moreland (Montgomery)
o Unionville-Chadds Ford (Chester)
o Upper Dublin (Montgomery)
o Central (Philadelphia)
o Council Rock North (Bucks)
