UDSD Sustainability Committee

The School District of Upper Dublin is proud to announce the formation of a Sustainability Committee. The Committee was formed as part of the District’s Energy Management initiative with Aramark. The Committee’s mission is to serve as a resource, catalysts, and advocate for environmental sustainability. Through educating students (as well as faculty, staff and community members) the group strives to promote personal and civic environmental responsibility with the school community, to encourage practices with sustainable living and to challenge students, faculty, and the administration to consider their ecological impact and ways to have a positive impact on the environment.

The group is led by Lisa Fantini, the Director of Robbins Park, Bill Stone, Assistant Business Administrator, and Nate Paist, Aramark Representative, and also consists of representatives from around the district’s schools: FWES - Ginny Heiss, JTES - Kathy Matekovic, Jen Ruiter, Sara Raysinger, and Laura Schmuckler, MGES - Annette Kroninger and Colleen Schultz, TFES - Josh Meyer and Reed Roeser, SRMS - Jennifer Zega and UDHS - Erin Loch and Joanne Lilliendahl.

Some of the group’s early efforts have included: developing a logo via a district-wide art contest; educating students and faculty about the single stream recycling system within the district, developing and promulgating a checklist for staff to shutdown or unplug electronics as a way of reducing energy consumption; and in addition each school has embarked on its individual efforts all geared toward recycling and reducing consumption. The District is also has formed a Partnership with Energy Star.
