Some Special Announcements regarding District Appointments

As the Superintendent of Schools, I am proud to share with you some special announcements.

The Board of School Directors last night officially approved the appointment of Mr. Robert Schultz as the new Principal of Upper Dublin High School. Mr. Schultz will replace Dr. Charles Rittenhouse, who recently accepted the position of high school principal at Springfield Township High School. Mr. Schultz is a 1984 graduate of Upper Dublin High School and received his bachelor and master degrees from Lehigh University. His professional experiences include services as a math teacher, math coordinator, Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Professional Development, and, more recently, Assistant Superintendent of Schools.

The Board of School Directors last night also officially approved the appointment of Mrs. Eva Morrison as the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Professional Development to replace Mr. Schultz and his responsibilities. Mrs. Morrison received her bachelor’s degree from Carlow College and received her Master’s degree from LaSalle University. Her professional experiences include services as a K-12 teacher, World Language Supervisor, and, most recently, Coordinator of Secondary Education.

In other action taken last evening, the Board of School Directors, with sadness, accepted the resignation of long-time Board Member Dr. Elbert “Bert” Saddler, who recently retired from his position at West Chester University, and who will be leaving the District later this month. To replace Dr. Saddler for the remainder of his term, the Board of School Directors appointed Mr. Mark Sirota, a District parent with children at Thomas Fitzwater Elementary School.

On behalf of the District, I welcome Mr. Sirota, Mr. Schultz and Mrs. Morrison to their new roles, and bid Dr. Saddler, all of this year’s retirees, and, of course, the Class of 2013 all the best in the years ahead.

Summer Tours of the New High School

The School District of Upper Dublin will continue its tours of the new Upper Dublin High School on eight Wednesdays this summer. Open to members of the community, each 90-minute walking tour will highlight special design features along with typical subject area classrooms and special use areas in the Academic Wing, Athletic Complex and Performing Arts Center.

Tours will run from 5:30-7pm; check-in begins at 5:15pm in the Performing Arts Center lobby. The first leg of each tour will be the Performing Arts Center including the auditorium black box theatre and classrooms; followed by the Athletic Complex; finishing in the Academic Wing. Those who are interested in seeing the Performing Arts Center only may “jump off” the tour when that portion of the loop is completed. Please park and enter at the Performing Arts Center side of the building which is closest to the corner of Fort Washington Ave. & Loch Alsh Ave. (use the LED sign board as a landmark).

Tour dates are:
June 19 – June 26
July 10 – July 17 – July 24 – July 31
Aug 14 – Aug 21
