Thomas Fitzwater Elementary School

Thomas Fitzwater Elementary School is located in Willow Grove, PA., a suburb of Philadelphia. Our school serves kindergarten through fifth grade, with approximately 445 students.  We have a very diverse community, a very dedicated and caring staff, and a very active and supportive PTO.

Thomas Fitzwater Elementary School is proud of their recognition as a 1999 National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence and a 2007 recipient of a PA Achievement Grant.  We are dedicated to providing a positive and successful elementary school experience for every child who enters our doors. Our school has reached AYP (adequately yearly progress) and our students’ results on the PSSA tests were outstanding.  We encourage all parents to keep the lines of communication open by contacting the classroom teacher or Mr. Alston if you have any questions or concerns.

The Power to Be the Very Best is our motto.

We are very proud that our professional staff is constantly updating their skills to meet the demands of education today.  Our goal is to provide an authentic, rich education to all students using the most current and best practices.

The Thomas Fitzwater Elementary School offers it students a safe, positive, healthy environment in which to grow socially, emotionally and academically.  A buzzer entry system and classroom phones was installed in our school prior to the 2007/08 opening.  The building Emergency Operations Team has been established to oversee that school safety and security continues to be our number one priority.

Thomas Fitzwater School Song

At the edge of Upper Dublin
Stands a school that all can see.
It’s a place for us to learn and grow
with pride and dignity.
Everyday we come to work and play
and try our very best.
We rise above the rest.

We all love Thomas Fitzwater.
We all love Thomas Fitzwater.
We all love Thomas Fitzwater.
We’re Cheetahs blue and gold!

I am smart, special, valuable person.
I repsect myself and I respect others.
My words and actions are kind and honest.
I accept only my best in all I do.
I am PROUD to be me!
No Place for Hate Promise
I promise to do my best to treat everyone fairly.
I promise to do my best to be kind to everyone – even if they are not like me.

Thomas Fitzwater Elementary School has a community that is involved in providing a high quality education for all students. We are a dynamic and culturally diverse learning community of approximately 450 K-5 students. Our location on the edge of the Upper Dublin Township has created an environment that bridges communities. A diverse student body reflects the wonderful plethora of human experience. We are tirelessly working to ensure that each child at TFES receives an excellent education. At TFES, we have a dedicated group of teachers, specialists, support staff, and administrators who possess a sincere faith in student achievement and public education.

Our goal is to collaborate and communicate effectively. The value of open, honest communication cannot be stressed strongly enough. When it comes to our most valued commodity, our children, there is no time to waste. Let’s be a positive influence and allow them to grow because of us, not in spite of us. We work as a team here at TFES. We are fortunate to have proactive and dedicated parents who work diligently to support TFES. The community helps create an environment that welcomes cultural inclusion.

Thomas Fitzwater Elementary School offers academic opportunity that challenge individuals.  Our research-based and scientifically sound curriculum incorporates Pennsylvania standards and assessment. Continuously using research-based tools to identify what students know and what students do not know, we are able to maximize instructional time. Research has also proven that students educational needs go beyond traditional academic subjects. Our staff is adept at nurturing the entire learner. Incredibly gifted educators, coupled with continued parental support, create a learning atmosphere that promotes continued growth.
