reading resources

This year, our elementary schools are launching a new 📚 English Language Arts curriculum: Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA). CKLA builds students’ skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening while helping them develop knowledge across literature, history, science, and more.

Shown here, Maple Glen Elementary third graders were putting their reading skills to work by examining a story, determining whether statements about it were true or false, and then citing evidence from the text to support their answers. This practice helps students develop the comprehension skills they need to analyze text, make connections, and draw their own conclusions.
