The Sandy Run Middle School Administration is made up of a team of three administrators:

• Dr. Daniel Ortiz, Principal

Dr. Ortiz has been the principal of Sandy Run Middle School since July of 2020. Previously, Dr. Ortiz began his educational career at Upper Dublin High School where he taught social studies for nearly a decade before entering into school leadership. Dan spent several years as an administrator in two neighboring school districts before returning to UDHS as an Assistant Principal in 2018. Dr. Ortiz is a proud Upper Dublin graduate before going on to study history and education at Ursinus College where he played baseball. Dr. Ortiz is proud to have completed his doctoral degree at Gwynedd Mercy University where he focused his dissertation on principals' practices as advocates for students with special needs. Outside of school, Dan enjoys playing and coaching sports, reading, and spending time with his wife and three children.

• Ms. Jennifer Nuskey, Assistant Principal

Mrs. Nuskey joined Sandy Run Middle School as a house principal in March of 2023.  Mrs. Nuskey began her professional career in 2007 in The School District of Philadelphia as an 8th Grade ELA teacher.  After ten years in the classroom, Mrs. Nuskey transitioned into an Assistant Principal role in 2018 at Baldi Middle School in The School District of Philadelphia where she found success building relationships with students through her work in culturally responsive school leadership coursework, along with launching an instructional coaching model to support academic achievement through coaching teachers.  Mrs. Nuskey is a proud graduate of Temple University and Cabrini College.  Outside of school, Mrs. Nuskey enjoys going to Disney with her husband and daughter, going to Phillies games, and spending time outdoors.  

• Mr. Steve Pickford, Assistant Principal and Athletic/Activities Director

Mr. Pickford grew up in Warminster, PA & attended Archbishop Wood HS. He then matriculated at Temple University & graduated with a certification in Elementary & Early Childhood Education. Mr. Pickford taught 3rd & 4th grade at Jarrettown , Maple Glen & Thomas Fitzwater Elementary Schools from 1997-2003. He became the Assistant Principal & Activities/Athletic Director at SRMS in 2003, where he has been ever since.  Steve enjoys outdoor activities such as biking, pickleball & spending time with his family & friends at the Jersey Shore.
