As we approach the final months of our school year, I am so proud of the growth and progress our students have made across all areas of learning.
At a recent science fair, I saw students applying their curiosity and critical thinking in impressive ways—showing how far they’ve come in their ability to question, explore, and problem-solve. That same growth will soon be reflected in the upcoming Allied Arts Show, where students will share the results of their hard work and creativity through their visual art displays and performances. These culminating events in our school year are powerful reminders of the wide range of skills our students are developing each day.
In this update, you’ll also find highlights from our recent Alumni Hall of Fame Induction, a well-deserved honor for Dr. Richard Schmidt as this year’s UD Medal Outstanding Educator, and an opportunity to join us in recognizing all of our UDSD All Stars during Employee Appreciation Week.
Thank you for your continued support, and I hope you enjoy reading about the great things happening across UDSD.
Dr. Laurie Smith
Superintendent
