seal of biliteracy

Upper Dublin High School proudly announces its inaugural participation in the Pennsylvania Seal of Biliteracy (PASB) program, with five outstanding students earning this recognition for the first time in the school’s history. The students earning the prestigious Seal include Noella Carlo, Charles Donecker, Tobin Ebarvia, Brian Lester, and Michael Rothkopf.

The Pennsylvania Seal of Biliteracy honors high school students who have demonstrated biliterate proficiency by achieving an intermediate-high level on the ACTFL scale in a world language. This achievement reflects the students’ commitment to mastering two or more languages, including English, by the time of graduation.

“This milestone highlights the talents and dedication of our students as well as the rigor and exceptional quality of our faculty,” said Robert Schultz, Principal of Upper Dublin High School. “We are proud to celebrate their achievement and hope this will lead to continued recognition of exceptional student performance in the world languages.”

The Pennsylvania Department of Education established the Seal of Biliteracy to celebrate and promote cultural and linguistic diversity. The Seal serves as an important indicator that biliteracy is a challenging and valuable academic endeavor, showcasing readiness for civic and global engagement.

“As a world language faculty, we aim to build language proficiency and foster cultural understanding among our students. It is exciting to see those goals reflected in this remarkable student accomplishment,” said Alissa Hart, Upper Dublin High School’s Curriculum Leader for World Languages and Seal of Biliteracy Coordinator.

Upper Dublin High School will continue to participate in the Seal of Biliteracy program and encourage students to achieve this meaningful distinction in the years ahead.
